Power conditioner likely won't help anyway. Is it hiss or buzz? Is it constant or changing a bit? If power issues/ground loop, it will more present as some form of buzz as part of the hiss. Maybe u are also recording something too quiet for Sm7? The Sm7 needs heaps of gain and that brings up noise. I had same issue once turned out to be a cheap 002 pre amp so totally could be the preamp. Swap the power board u might be using as well. Jiggle all the power chords that touch audio cables and see if it changes anything. Is the rep wrong?Is it hiss or buzz? Is it constant or changing a bit? It’s not the headphone amp because I sent an audio sample to a friend who heard the noise and bought the same setup as me and hears the same annoying hiss and is threatening to return the mic. The hiss comes when I crank the apollo volume to maybe 1/8th or 1/4th up with the cloudlifter. Will a power conditioner help to eliminate the hiss? There are a lot of electronics and appliances plugged into my houses power system so i don’t know if that can be the problem. In fact, I’ve been able to get completely noise free audio from condensers such as Neumanns and even cheap USB mics like the Blue Yeti, however, the SM7B hiss always seems to cut through the mix no matter what and it’s very annoying. After trying numerous gain structuring techniques and different setups, I can’t seem to get the hiss free sound everyone has been raving about with this setup. I have a SM7B and Cloudlifter going into my Apollo Twin.
